Protecting Religious Minorities In India
The AME Church exists in a largely Hindu Nation.
Your thoughts and prayers are welcome for the Pastors, members and families of AME India. Some regions of the country are hostile toward their existence. Some in the country want India to only become a Hindu nation…especially now that Prime Minister Modi and his BJP party are in office. So pray that racial, religious and ethnic diversity will continue to be respected and enforced in the second largest country in the world.
Here is what Presiding Elder Abraham Peddiny ,the head of AME India recently wrote on his Facebook wall:
Friends very urgent PRAYER REQUEST from an AME Pastor by name NK from Bihar, a state in the northern India. He was attacked by the Hindu right wing people both physically and verbally. They verbally abused his wife and father as well. His members were also beaten up. Their musical instruments were destroyed. Bibles torn apart. The owner of the place where the church worshiped was threatened to evict them from there. So now they do not have a place to worship. The Pastor is very discouraged. Please pray for them.
So…please keep AME India and the entire country of India on your prayer list that religious and ethnic diversity will prevail.
