Sing Children of India!
The Children of the Vepagunta Educational Center in the state of Andhra Pradesh in Southern India are joyously singing a cherished song of the region. They performed in front of the 37 travelers from the United States visiting the churches and educational centers of AME India. The African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) has more than 125 churches in India, representing a unique and important strategic alliance between African Americans and the people of India. Presiding Elders Abraham and Sarah Peddiny oversee all of the Indian churches. Bishop John and Rev. Cecilia Bryant are the Presiding Prelate and Episcopal Supervisor of the 4th Episcopal District of the AME Church, of which AME India is a part. The trip was organized by the Christiana R. Gray Women's Missionary Society of Bethel AME Church in Boston. Social Entrepreneur and church member Carole Copeland Thomas led the trip in February 2015.
