When my friend, Virginia Nelson, invited me to attend an acupuncture session at her home, I was indeed curious. I was always mildly interested in learning more about the topic, but just didn't have that "push" to dig deeper. So when the invitation came, I decided to give it a try.
With a living room filled with friends and colleagues, I offered up my right thumb to Dr. Beth Sommers, who stuck her magic needles in the right spots and minutes later the nagging carpal tunnel in that thumb had decreased substantially. And it stayed that way for several days.
That was my introduction to acupuncture. And Beth Sommers, PhD, MPH, LAc joins me on today's show to demystify acupuncture to our listening audience and explain why it has become a popular alternative to traditional Western medicine for many around the world.
Dr. Sommers is the Director of Research and Education for Pathways to Wellness/AIDS Care Project, a non profit organization in Boston. Shel will also talk about the other services offered by the organization, including shiatu and Chinese herbs.
Join in the conversation as we explore alternative medicine during Women's History Month.
Pathways to Wellness, Inc. is a
