Frank McCarthy's executive search work spans some 40 years. He has personally placed countless professionals on their jobs throughout New England and beyond, and he keeps on going. I sat down and talked to Frank about what trends he sees for job hunters, where the industry is headed, and how his background as a former Catholic priest shaped his career success.

A native of Medford, Massachusetts, Frank X. McCarthy, the founder of Diverse Workplace, is a diversity recruiting and sourcing pioneer. Over the years he has placed hundreds of individuals at all levels of companies and organizations.
In 2011 the NORTHEAST HUMAN RESOURCES ASSOCIATION gave Frank their annual Diversity Champion Award. In 2013 NEHRA named this award the Frank X. McCarthy Diversity Champion Award. In 2015, BATSA (Boston Area Talent Sourcing Association) awarded Frank their first Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 1973 Frank founded Xavier Associates to do diversity recruiting and candidate sourcing. He sold Xavier Associates in 1999 and in 2002 established Diverse Workplace.
Frank was a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Paterson, NJ. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper chaplain with tours in Korea, Japan, the Second Infantry and the 101st Airborne Divisions. After his military tours he was appointed pastor of an inner city parish in Paterson where he was involved in many projects in the African American and Latino communities. He joined the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity where he worked in Community Action Programs in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Frank has his M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. He is a former President of the Massachusetts Professional Placement Consultants. He served as President of the Board of Trustees of the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center.
